Even when the FIFA 2010 World Cup isn't in town, soccer is the favorite sport for South Africa's children. That's why one ministry has been using the sport to reach them with the transforming power of the Gospel. More Than Just a Game Soccer is one of the most popular sports in South Africa and in Orange Farms near Johannesburg, it is no different. "I like soccer because one day I want to be a professional player," one boy said, while playing a game of soccer. "Soccer is my favorite sport and it's 2010," another boy said. But the game they've been playing has a different purpose -- one that has everything to do with the multi-colored soccer balls the boys have been kicking around. Each color has a meaning and all together they tell a story. "Black is for sin that we have done, and it is important for us to remember that," the first boy said describing the colorful soccer ball in his hand. "Red is for the blood of Jesus that washes our sins. White is for the Holy Spirit and yellow is for new creation." Not long ago the balls were donated to an organization in Orange Farms called Royal Kids, a ministry aimed at instilling biblical values in kids' lives through prayer, praise and Godly leadership. "Prior to us giving out the balls there were around 200 to 250 boys, but you can come around at 4 p.m. and that place is chockablock with kids," Pastor Peter Sekhonyani said.  See Peter's video below:

The greatest mircales are when repentant sinners are forgiven and are born again! From our Mombasa World Cup Centre come the following reports: Missionary B. shares his experience - I have no words to describe the World Cup Ministry to Muslims we’re involved in. This is the best experience I have ever had as a missionary. I came to realize that Muslims are ten times more hostile when approached in normal circumstances with the Gospel than when invited to watch a soccer game after which the Gospel is shared. We all enjoy what we’re doing. It’s a miracle. New convert R.S. gives his testimony - I have accepted Jesus as my Saviour. All this started before the game of Cameroon and Denmark when I watched a movie about a muslim man in Nigeria. Although after the game I was down because my team Cameroon had lost to Denmark, the movie gave me morale. In our group, we finished the lessons and I wait to be baptised.

Missionary D.K. sent us this report: On 2 July, Ghana was eliminated in a very heartbreak manner. People were emotional and disappointed. A lady was crying deeply after the game just because Ghana lost. I went to comfort her and I told her, "The game has passed away but Jesus will never pass. Put your trust in Jesus. He’ll not fail you." To my surprise, the lady said "Yes, I want Jesus." Today, she’s part of group 13 with 11 others. They completed their lessons this morning. This lady will be baptized next Sunday. God is great. The Head Facilitator of the MMCs in South Africa, Pastor Peter Sekhonyane, has reported that the rural areas of the country had greater attendances than even the townships. Not having electricity and never having seen the screening of matches on a big screen, they were blessed with generators, TVs and aerials, projector kits and huge screens and agreed this was a phenomenal experience! 2 friends, Sechaba and Mohau, invited their whole Football Team (aged 10 to 16) to the quarter-final between Netherlands and Brazil. After hearing the testimonies of Lucio and Kaka (at half time, just before they were eliminated), the whole team gave their lives to Jesus. They all live in one area of Orange Farms and cleared a portion of an empty space there that they call their own "Soccer City" and are inviting non-church-going teams to play against them on Sunday Morning. They’ll have Church before the match and have requested a full kit for themselves, and for Pastor Peter to be their Coach! He will visit their "Church" on Sunday and find out more about their activities for the whole Sunday Morning. PRAISE THE LORD!
